This year so far we have had some FANTASTIC cover reveals for upcoming books and even some already published books that got a face lift. As most of you know I am a huge collector and coveter of covers; I love flowing gowns, romantic lettering, colour, contrasting, bold, simple, edgy - you name it, I'll probably find something I adore about a cover!

In this post thought I have collected, scoured and swooned over some of my post anticipated covers to covet this upcoming summer, and fall months! There are going to be some truly amazing cover's that will catch your eye, draw you in, and captivate you for years to come. I have thought many times of collecting my favourite covers and doing a giant collage of them for a wall in my room, below are definitely cover's that would make the cut!

If these cover's don't capture you're attention than definitely follow the link to their synopsis' and see if the cover's do the story justice.
Terrified, fascinated, I discover I possess a power I can’t control: my wishes come true. After an all-too-real attack by the animal from my dreams, I wake to find myself the captive of the seductive and ruthless fae lord Rogue. "With no hope of escaping this world, I must learn to harness my magic and build a new life despite the perils—including my own inexplicable and debilitating desire for Rogue. I swear I will never submit to his demands, no matter what erotic torment he subjects me to…"

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">An enthralling, thrilling and seductive ride is the only way to describe what “Rogue’s Pawn” was for me! My first book by Jeffe Kennedy, and I am 100% trapped within her world. Rogue, Jennifer (Gwynn), Larch, Starling, every single character is detailed, unique and perfect for "Rogue's Pawn". I adored the absolute creativity and rareness this supernatural romance offers its readers; it definitely is not your average Fae story.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">We are thrown right into Jennifer’s mind numbing boring world, with a fiancés she doesn’t love, and a career her heart just isn’t in. Her life seems to be at a dead end, until she finds herself thrown into a magical lush world of the unknown possibilities where every whim and desire of hers comes true, although she quickly learns that everything has a price. Stalked in reality in her nightmares by an ominous black dog, she cannot believe her eyes when that very same dog shows up in this magical place … only to make her worse fear come true – it attacks her. Beaten and bruised, barely able to talk Jennifer later finds herself bound in silver chains to a bed *enter stage left* the mysterious but delectable Rogue, her savior but also captor. From here a whirlwind of action, emotion, lust, and choices must be made if Jennifer or Gwynn (as these Fae call her) is ever going to survive, and come out on top!

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">“Rogue’s Pawn” had everything a supernatural romance should, a seductive main “man”, a lustful undenial attraction (although Gwynn does try hard to deny herself what Rogue's offering), and a roller coaster of action, tears, and love that sends you head first into this story! A couple things really made this story what it is, for me at least: there is a killer list of characters, a thrilling adventure, and a creativeness that is hard to come by in the majority of supernatural romances.

A Rogue, A Human & the Fae:<span style="color: black; font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;"> I cannot gush more about a group of characters than the one's in "Rogue's Pawn!" each and everyone one of them no matter how malicious, how caring, or how "fairy like" they were I adored each and every one of them and all for different reasons! There was not a dull character in sight, I even loved the cat "Darling". The three that I really connected with the most was Jennifer (Gwynn), Starling, and Rogue. These three characters really caught my attention, Jenn was an opinionated smart, overly intelligent women who questioned everything, and drove Rogue up the peverbiale wall. She had her moments when she was more human than anyone else in Fae but held her own and accepted she was in fact a "Lady Sorceress" and did so with intent and grace. I really connected with this herione because of her stubborn intelligent personality - she was a strong women not falling for the first attractive Fae she had seen. Starling who turns out to be one of Gwynn's closest confidants and perhaps friend's in Faery also plays a dramtic roll in Gwynn and Rogue's relationship - kind of like a cheerleader for the both of them. Gwynn needed a "friend" and Starling reminded me of a girlfriend of sorts for Gwynn which she needed at times.

Rogue on the other hand was the perfect description of a "Lord". He was controlling, and went after what he wanted with a vengence like no other. He had an otherworldly attractiveness to him which made him that much more irrisistable. Tall build, with indigo sapphire eye's, luscious black hair, and an unsasitable sexual appetite for only Gwynn. He was a protective individual but also very sarcastic, and almost condescending when it came to answering Gwynn's questions, although done in an affectionate way. The reader can tell there is something off or mysterious about Rogue, and up until the last chapter I was unsure what it was. It was a well kept secret that confused me but I enoyed immensely!

Rollercoaster of Thrills: <span style="color: black; font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">Action, adventure, love, war, hate, tears and change! This story does not disappoint in delivering one heck of a plot! The reason I was so enthralled with "Rogue's Pawn" was in fact the story was fast paced, never dull, and always throwing me for a loop! In 390 pages Kennedy was able to deliver war, hate, action, adventure, huge character development, and of course the beginning of a lustfilled, loving connection. The character development that occured with Gwynn was almost torterous to read at times - it just seemed so cruel in a way that she had to suffer so much do to one mistaken change ending up in this place, although that being said I don't think I would have enjoyed reading about her so much if she hadn't gone through all the pain and suffering - she came out a much stronger heroine.

A Recipe for Creative Perfection: <span style="color: black; font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">The world Jeffe Kennedy creates is a perfect mix of magic, and reality! The descriptions of everything were spot on and so detailed I could imagine I was there myself. I could sit for hours on end reading about the "Land of the People" or "Faery" she has created - it is a world where anything is possible and everything is lush with detail - emerald green grass, clear blue sky's; and the creatures themselves are fantastical! Truly a supernatural buffet of originality!

Overall this book has won a favouriable 4 out of 5 stars! It literally had everything I was hoping for in a paranormal romance! Although I do enjoy a bit more romance and less action, nonetheless it is a rave worthy book! Amazing action and thrilling adventure mixed perfectly with seductive flirtatious romance, and heart breaking character development. Jacquelynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13358398231171150057noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194493438505871971.post-56831761601953824192012-06-23T20:15:00.000-07:002012-06-23T20:15:22.833-07:00Stacking the Shelves {3}

Armentrout I suggest you stop whatever you are doing currently, grab your wallet and head to the nearest book store RIGHT NOW! “Obsidian” shocked the socks off of me; it was a fast paced, thrilling read that I wasn’t prepared for at all, and unfortunately when it ended I was sitting there thinking “no that just can’t be it … there has to be more! Why on earth would she end it with so much hanging!!” So many great things to discuss about this book that makes it spectacular and I think the characters (for me at least) are the best part about "Obsidian" - their chemistry is undeniable, although they try so hard to hate one another (I just ate it up!). The ending as well adds to the irresistibility of this book; you realize it’s coming to an end, you’re prepared for it but when and how it ends isn’t what you expected at all! Knowing there is more (so much more) to be learnt about all these characters and knowing the battle has just begun, it throws you for a loop and you cannot help yourself but to mentally record when “Onyx” will be out in stores (*cough* August 14, 2012 *cough*) so you’re the first to get it!

It was truly hard to think about what really drew me into this book, but I think you’ll all be pleasantly surprised (as I was) and ready to gobble “Obsidian” up instantly after you read about the characters, the ending and of course Daemon! (insert an eyebrow waggle or two ladies - he is delicious)

A Book About A Blogger: I think one of the main and most important things to make clear is that the main female protagonist (Katy) is infact one of us! She is a book blogger! It is mentioned that she participates in “In My Mailbox” postings, and “Waiting on Wednesdays” and also on a couple of occasions, gets just as excited over books in the mail or the library like we would. She is infact a character I think every book blogger will be able to relate too at some point throughout the book. Although that isn't the only thing you need to know about Katy; she is a strong, stubborn and independent young girl whose father was abruptly taken from her causing her mother and her to move halfway to nowhere. Now stuck in a small one road town she discovers that she is not the only one in dire need of friends, quickly befriending the beautiful yet mysterious girl next door Dee and grudgingly her over protective brother Daemon.

I love everything about this character, she is stubborn, she is smart, loves to read, and literally does outrageous things to annoy and pester Daemon to no end! Their chemistry is undeniable and they work so hard not to be attracted to one another, but you can’t help but smile when Katy comes back with a quick snarky remark, or Daemon becomes uncharacteristically nice to her. She is probably one of my favourite female protagonists, quickly accepting the fact she lives next doors to aliens and although most if not all humans would run screaming for the hills she accepts this and doesn't let it affect her friendship with Dee. Everything Katy learns in this book will (in my opinion) turn her into a better if not more sarcastic but stronger lead character in the books to come in the Lux series.

What An Ending: You would never expect a book obsessor like myself, to be gushing about an ending to a book like I am about too, but “Obsidian” had turned its reading experience for me at least upside down. I can’t really divulge what it was that really threw me at the end unless I spoil it for everyone but knowing the two characters Daemon and Katy you’ll no less expect what could happen. They both know they are attracted to one another, they both have had moments and yet cockyness and stubbornness both hold you to the very last word in Obsidian. Its not a happily ever after sort of ending, its funny, and perfect for these two and the entire series, leaving just enough to want to pull your hair out but just enough to say “that was perfect!”. I expect no less in “Onyx” either from the way everything was left in “Obsidian”, the ending left just enough to have a really great start in Chapter 1, with still the attitude, stubbornness, and unusual romances.

Daemon Black: Enough said. His name clearly enough to send fans of YA Hotties all over the world reeling into comas of how deliciously addictive he is. When first described to me by Brenna @ Esther’s Ever After, one of the main selling point was in fact Daemon. And boy he doesn’t disappoint! Introduced to us unexpectedly shirtless, and answering the door, poor Katy is taken by surprise and basically gawks at him. We get our first of many glimpses at the cocky, “too cool” attitude that Daemon possess and doesn’t mind reminding Katy of every chance he gets. At first I knew I would be attracted to this character, everything about him screams bad boy (we all know how I love a bad boy) but as we get further into the book nothing changed about his attitude. He wasn’t becoming nicer, or romantic or anything and I for sure thought that he would have from my vast experience with these types of characters; he remained forever an “ass”. That being said though I don’t think the story would have been as thrilling or addicting if he wasn’t, one of the main reasons I kept reading was to see how Daemon and Katy would interact next with one another. He had is sweet romantic moments which made me swoon that much more for him, but Armentrout really made us work for those rare occurrences. Also what made him dream worthy as well was his strong and protective relationship with his sister, and his loyalty to his family. Yes he is a drop dead gorgeous character physically, but his personality and characteristics is really what makes him that swoon worthy, delicious character we all will eventually love (after the sarcasm, cocky, and overall bad boy attitude has passed). Daemon and Katy turned out to be the most unlikely pair of people to end up with one another, but as protagonists their chemistry is immaculate (they’ll have to work on their romance though, he he!).

“Obsidian” has captured me with its characters, its storyline and even its ending! It isn’t missing one aspect nor should anything be added to it. Although a little slow at parts, everything else made it an easy, thrilling addicting read. Danger lurked on every page, and the antagonists were bad-ass! Literally darkness is what they were thriving in the night, and wanting nothing more than to kill the Luxen's for their light. I can't help but gush about the bad guys in this book - seriously a must read if you haven't already! Five out of five (5/5) stars to a spectacular first novel in an unforgettable series. Jacquelynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13358398231171150057noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194493438505871971.post-84378455744998656342012-05-27T11:53:00.000-07:002012-05-27T11:53:55.992-07:00Stacking the Shelves: Month of May {1}
In loo of "Insurgent" by Veronica Roth publication this week on May 1, 2012 a couple blogger friends and I have decided to put together a couple postings about or excitement over Divergent and express our upcoming love for this series! I decided to do a post on (3) main hotties from Divergent, including a photo of who I thought the actor should be to play them, and of course their stats & a brief description! I hope these boys make you swoon, and weak in the knees like they did for me throughout the book! I cannot wait to see what Veronica Roth has in store for us in "Insurgent" (in stores now!)

Tobias/Four: Dauntless through and through, Four is one of our 3 delicious book
boyfriends of Divergent. Deep-set dark blue eyes, lean and tame looking Four is
one of the deadliest, and yet attractive boys in the Divergent series. Four is
introduced to us when Beatrice/Tris is the first to jump down the dauntless
entrance as an initiate. Noticeably the first thing we are introduced too about
“Four” is his lips - spare upper lip and full lower lip (irresistible and
kissable); and of course his deep set, dark blue eyes, and luscious eyelashes.
As one of the first boys to be seen as a love interest in Divergent, Four made
us (me especially) swoon at first read. Although he makes us weak in the knees
he can be cruel and almost “tyrant” like as Tris had described him in Divergent
when in training. He is known to be one of the top trainers although he differs
when it comes to training techniques and morals in the Dauntless Faction
compared to that of his rival Eric, a dauntless leader. Among the top dauntless
initiates to be accepted as dauntless he is very quick and smart when it comes
to computers. Noticeably, he has a lean build not appearing to be as blatantly “dauntless”
as some in his dress and demeanor, he almost has a tame look to him but is
still extremely deadly when holding a gun, knives or hand-to-hand combat. Decorated
with many tattoos running along his spine, he is a mysterious and dark
individual with a sweet, gentle side that not many see. With a slightly
arrogant and ferocious side, Four is by far one of my favourite bad boys of the
Dauntless faction. My actor of choice to play him in a movie would be none
other than, Matt Dallas.
ruthless, cunning, and “scary” individual Eric is our second boyfriend of the
“Divergent” world. Although not portrayed as anyone’s love interest and more of
an antagonist of Tris’ and all initiates, he still has his strong points as
being an attractive book boyfriend. A one of a kind bad boy through and through,
Eric is on the verge of being labeled dangerous within his Faction, which is
exactly what they expect from the youngest leader ever. Pushing and breaking
initiates seems to be a joy of his and seeing how far he can push their limits
in training and within the Dauntless compound is “fun” to him. Eric embodies
everything the “new” dauntless is suppose to be – ruthless and feared. He
despises Four for having old Dauntless ways set as his guidelines and
antagonizes him more than anyone. Not described as being a “hottie” or
attractive Eric does have long dark hair, and a couple of facial piercings,
which in my mind only intrigues me more about him. Within “Divergent” we only
see Eric as a bad boy leader, bent on bringing Fours demise, and seeing the
fall of Abnegation. But, I think Eric has potential to be a steamy book
boyfriend, he just needs to show everyone a little more peace and a lot less
intense all the time. My actor of choice if I had to choose would be Samuel
Larsen – extremely attractive even with long dark hair, and facial piercings!
is given to us by Tris regarding her brother although if in any other faction
Caleb would have been gawked at by the other girls. With dark hair, and green
eye’s he is a definite cutie to be on the look out for in the future. The one
thing that stood out for me about Caleb was his pure instinct to be the utmost
selfless individual, but still have something that is all, his books. Also the
fact that he is a total book nerd definitely makes us weak in the knees for a
fellow book lover! If Caleb were to be played by any actor of my choosing I
would choose, Lucas Till. Although not a dark haired individual, his gentle
smile, and innocent look to him says it all.
Mature Monday's is a feature I've decided I'd like to host on the blog. You don't have to participate if you don't want too - although I find it hard as a Young Adult reviewer to post more Adult content such as reviews for romance novels, erotica, etc. SO! I have designated Monday's as my day for my adult review of choice. It can be of a book, of a TV show or of a Movie. I don't know if anyone is going to be interested in participating but for now if you'd like to participate leave a comment with the link to your review or post about an adult orientated topic :)
To start us of I thought I would post a compilation review of ALL 3 Fifty Shades of Grey novels devoured of the last 4 days of my life! Its a bit long, but I think does each book enough justice to quicken your heartbeat and make you weak in the knees!

Review: Fifty Shades of Grey Series by E.L. James

There are only a few words that could describe this series as a whole accurately enough … steamy … seductive … and enchanting. I know enchanting is not a word usually associated with erotic romance, but "Fifty Shades of Grey", "Fifty Shades Darker", and "Fifty Shades Freed" all had an enchanting aspect to them which made this series all the more addicting. As many have probably seen throughout twitter, facebook and goodreads.com - all last week I could not put these books down! They literally haunted my dreams - I fell asleep reading them, and woke up thinking “what is going to happen next?!” “is she going to stay with him” “Can he give more?” - it was a little unnerving, and I don’t think I have ever felt this strongly about an erotic romance series before. Yes the word erotic does put most people off because they think they’re going to be labelled as one of “THOSE” people who reads dirty smutty romance, and HECK Fifty Shades has exactly that, kinky sex. But without the “smut” it wouldn’t have been as exciting, or irresistible as it was - it just wouldn’t have been my Fifty Shades of fucked up (one of my favourite descriptors used by Ana the main female character).

Because this is a compilation review of all three books, I am going to break down my review into small paragraphs about each book, and then my overall thoughts.

Fifty Shades of Grey: I was a bit unsure about how I felt about this book at first. I wasn’t sure if I was going to love Anastasia Steele as a main character or Christian Grey for that matter. Both seemed doomed from the start, Ana a sweet inexperienced girl fresh out of University, and Christian the control freak, and dark business tycoon almost on the verge of obsession with Ana just within the first couple of pages. Although I enjoy a fast paced novel this one seemed to move at lightening pace. So much happened in such a short period of time - I loved and hated that aspect of the book. I wanted to savour Ana & Christians love affair for what it was - just sex. But it turned into so much more by the last page, my mind was basically spinning out of control due to pure confusion and anticipation I HAD to have the next book as soon as I could. Overall I was not worried about the kinky sex scenes, but was worried about the over the top too quick “I Love Yous” that normally happen within romance novels. But Fifty Shades did not disappoint at all, there were some overly romantic periods, and we were touch and go for a bit but in the end I enjoyed the first of this fabulous series much more than I had anticipated.

Fifty Shades Darker: The one thing I absolutely loved about this series was how they wasted no time getting straight into the story. Picking up from the heart wrenching conclusion of the last novel, Ana and Christian are once again thrown into their passionate love affair. Christian is still an overbearing control freak, but Ana not so shy anymore and learning that not everything has to be HIS way, has become a force to be reckoned with. She has grown into a dominant, and confident young woman, who is the perfect match for her Fifty Shades. Although still trying to convince Christian of this and her feelings, she learns more and more about his past which explains why he is the way that he is in the present. The audience also gets a better glimpse at Christians family life, two adopted siblings (like himself) and a very successful mother and father. I enjoyed getting to know all the other characters a bit more as Ana was - I felt like I was connected through her to everything that was going on. I felt everything she was feeling towards her best friend Kate, Christian, and even the evil seductress Elena. I was so enthralled with book number 2 I couldn’t believe it had ended when it did. Now don’t get me wrong this series is not only about their romance, it also had some dark rooted drama that only leads to stronger and more predominate drama within the third book. The best thing about this series, and also its worst is how all three books happen within about 6 months - EVERYTHING that happens happens so quickly it almost feels unrealistic at times. But pushing that aside, the second book did not disappoint at all - infact I think it is a fantastic bridge between the beginning and end of the story (obviously); giving enough to the reader to lure them back in but also leaving enough for the end of the book that we are blown away!

Fifty Shades Freed: BY FAR my favourite of the three! I usually NEVER say that about books because I am so unhappy that the series has ended. But with Fifty Shades you want to know what happens in the end, you wish and hope that everything works out for the best and reading about Ana and Christians seductive journey is the best part! I actually had to pace myself with this book because I just didn’t want the series to end, I wanted to savor each and every page of this book, but at the same time the anticipation and suspense was eating away at me! I cannot say too much about how this book turned out because I do not want to ruin it for people who are wanting to read it or currently, but there are some mind blowing turn of events, some major explosions from Christian and Ana, but in the end I gave in and couldn’t help myself slowly swooning over their passionate and undying love for one another. Corny as it may sound, the reader cannot help but smile everytime Christian and Ana are together in this book. In the end I thought that the epilogue was the best part of the book. After everything the two of these individuals have gone through, betrayal, heartbreak, pain and fear - you just want them to end up happy with one another, they almost deserve that in the end. Although the third book is written differently than the rest meaning that more time takes place within fewer pages, and a lot less happens drama wise, it is still a quick paced and well written conclusion to one epic love story.

Final Thoughts: Overall this series is definitely 5 out of 5 stars all the way through. There is nothing I would change about these books, every aspect fits perfectly with each character's personalities. Christian Grey although not my favourite character at first, haunted my dreams, and is definitely one book boyfriend I am going to covet forever! (so back off girls :D haha!) He quickens your heart beat, and makes you weak in the knees for a romance such as theirs. Although unorthodox throughout the entire series, Ana and Christian in the end were the perfect match and character combination! It was refreshing to meet a well educated and insightful young lady who loves literature as much as myself. If anything I would highly suggest this series to anyone not afraid of kinky sex between the pages. It was and is a seductive whirlwind of emotions that grips you until the very last page of the series. A wonderfully written story, that is strongly plot and character driven. A good mixture of crazy ex girlfriends, hidden secrets, and an insatiable need for love, the "Fifty Shades of Grey" series delivers all that and much much more. Jacquelynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13358398231171150057noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194493438505871971.post-44382105046305055902012-04-22T05:48:00.000-07:002012-04-22T05:48:33.513-07:00In My Mailbox (24): VIDEO is BACK!

"In my Mailbox" is a weekly meme hosted by the fantastic Kristi "the Story Siren". Expected Publication: September 18, 2012

There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">"It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive."

"Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her."

"His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble."

"But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys. For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore."

Thoughts:<span style="color: black; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;"> Seeing as this is a new author for me I can't really comment on the writing style I'll be expecting, although I do love the synopsis and overall premisis of this novel! I honestly think after reading about Rachel Vincents "Soul Screamer" novels I have become hooked on anything to do with "seers" and spirits and reapers and such. Maggie seems to be delivering an entirely new and different twist on the lore of these seers with the opening statement, "either you're his true love ... or you killed him". It really sparks my curiousity because the main character, Blue has been destined to kill her true love! So along with an opening in a graveyard (creepy) we also have a "love" interest. AND who are these Raven Boys - I am dying to know more about them as well. This book just screams unanswered questions that BEG to be answered! Annnnd of course the cover art! *sigh* how could you not just love the cover - I know its not the typical beautiful girl or handsome boy, but still in itself speaks volumes of what you can expect for this upcoming publication. I just love the placement of everything, very catching to the eye, and also the eye's in the wing of the raven - creeepy! Keep on the look out for this book once September hits, I have a feeling I'll be diving into this one around Halloween :)
Jacquelynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13358398231171150057noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194493438505871971.post-63819058926272773752012-04-09T07:17:00.000-07:002012-04-09T07:17:55.351-07:00Cover Reveal: "Blue Moon" by Julie Belfield<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">Today we are hosting another fantastic cover reveal for the author Julie Belfied! Being the "cover coveter" that I am, I have loved both of the cover reveals I have done for Julie. This one in particular I can't get enough of! Simple with only a few items drawing your eye, not too busy, and clearly describing the title. The women on the left hand side is placed perfectly to not draw too much attention to her (even though she is wearing almost a sheer gown) but to give most of the attention to the title, and also the pale blue moon (in the upper right hand corner). The cover is almost seductive in a way with the use of the different hues of blue, and also the curves of the womens body in line with the title! I just can't get enough of this cover, I could rant and rave about it for hours on end!

Thoughts: I had the luxury of meeting Adrienne Kress at our RazOrbill launch party in February - she was absolutely the type of author and person I can see myself being friends with! She is just - AWESOME - there is no other word to describe her :) When she was telling me about her upcoming debut Y.A. novel, I couldn't help but be excited, and captivated about these three women she has woven such an exciting mystery around! Now seeing the cover, and full synopsis on goodreads.com, I remember why I adore steampunk, and Adrienne so much. But honestly, just LOOK at that cover! On first glance I instantly thought "these girls are "Bad-Ass"! - one is holding a samuri sword, one is holding a gun, and the other looks like she could bewitch you with one glare! The synopsis keeps you even more captivated, who doesn't want a good mystery entangled with strong, and independant women? The catch phrase "Be your own hero..." I couldn't help thinking this is the perfect book for me. I adore a rebellious heroine driven plot, and Adrienne is delivering THREE all in one story. I just couldn't be more excited about this upcoming Steampunk novel; be on the look out come winter 2012, "The Friday Society" is going to take the bookshelves by storm!
Jacquelynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13358398231171150057noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194493438505871971.post-29300853812310008902012-03-24T11:16:00.000-07:002012-03-24T11:16:17.931-07:00BLOG TOUR: "Embrace" by Jessica ShirvingtonToday we have a special blog posting for all you fans of Angels! In the end, I chose to go with the most popular theory, that there are 3 choirs of angels and within each choir, 3 ranks.

At the top of the angel hierarchy sit the Seraphim. They are the angels that are supposed to burn with an all-consuming white flame and who perform the all-important role of maintaining the source of Existence within the physical world.

Following the Seraphim come the Cherubim, and Thrones. I always like the descriptions of the Thrones – bringers of justice.

In the second choir are Powers, Dominations and Virtues. And in the third choir – Principalities, Archangels and Angels (guardians).
Each character is specifically placed within a rank of angels and then given powers accordingly. For example: Griffin is parented by a Seraph angel, meaning he is a leader and his unique power is a mind power (that of reading and delivering truth) to correlate with the description of the Seraphim’s function in the universe. It is a great way of keeping order to the power pool!

Each angelic rank also has a different appearance and different color that represent them and I found this really interesting. Any time I describe an angelic image, it relates back to this research in some way. Additionally, combining this research with things like the Chakra has led me to the use of color as a representation of power and also gemstones as a link to old mythology. For example: Phoenix’s hair is like opal – so black that it shimmers with purple and it catches the light exposing streaks of dazzling silver. First, I loved the idea of his hair being different, but also, it linked to the significance to his power, and his heritage in the story.

Basing the story around the bones of angel mythology and hierarchy gives me a solid structure to use as my foundation. It anchors the story and gives me direction any time I think the story might be straying.

Also, it allowed me to develop one of the big mysteries within the series: what rank is Violet from?
