Waiting on Wednesday (18)

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by "Breaking the Spine" were bloggers can post their anticipated upcoming publications!

Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen
Publisher: Walker & Co. (Walkerbooks)
Expected Publication: February 14, 2012

Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance.

Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in. It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for.

Thoughts: From the very first line "Many readers know about the tale of Robin Hood ..." I was hooked! I absolutely adore Robin Hood, King Arthur and all those types of stories! And this one sounds absolutely perfect for a history obsessed individual like myself! lol. Now the over isn't all too stunning or gorgeous like the usual books I have up for my WoW, although I do still like the title and the girl on the front cover. Both are stunning and draw your eye in towards the photo and title, it makes it very intriguing and one of the reasons I was drawn towards this book for my choice this week. Also, I am always a sucker for romance in any sort of novel, may it be plutonic or not. And to have a different love interest in Robin Hood's life other than Maiden Marien will be awesome! Too bad there isn't more in the synopsis to really get into the story and see why the "Thief Taker" is after her, but I suppose we will have to wait and see in February!
