Well last week was a bust for book unless you count the school books I took from the library to write an essay; the titles ranged from "A Guide to Writing History" & "The Holy Wars: A Brief History of the Crusades" which indeed was not brief but went on for 963 pages -_- ... BUT this week! I received a trilogy from Simon & Schuster Canada, and bought 4 spectacular Y.A. greatly anticipated books on my "to be read" list.
One of my long time friend from high school and fellow blogger Chelsey, author of her blog "Chels and A Book" had a friend in Simon & Schuster looking for some bloggers to read a sci-fi author Chris Evans. Well she sent a couple of us messages for some people looking to read it and vola! I was sent the trilogy he wrote called: "Iron Elves" (link takes you to his authors page on goodreads.com). SO far it is a fabulous sci-fi, adventure read, perfect for my adrenaline junkie self!

And because I had received a very nice bonus on my pay check this week from work, I decided to treat myself to some new authors, and new releases. I have been wanting to read some more dystopian novels but I just couldn't decide where to start. Thankfully I have heard really amazing things about Ally Condie so I picked up her first novel in her series "Matched". I think after Chris Evans, I might have to dive right into that one. So without further adieu, here are this weeks buys!

"Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow."
"Touch of Frost" by Jennifer Estep
"My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody's head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest ... But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I'm determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why—especially since I should have been the one who died. . ."
"The Scorpio Races" by Maggie Steifvater
"It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die. At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them. Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen."
"Tigers Curse" by Collen Houck
"The last thing Kelsey Hayes thought she’d be doing this summer was trying to break a 300-year-old Indian curse. With a mysterious white tiger named Ren. Halfway around the world."
"But that’s exactly what happened."
"Face-to-face with dark forces, spell- binding magic, and mystical worlds where nothing is what it seems, Kelsey risks everything to piece together an ancient prophecy that could break the curse forever. Tiger’s Curse is the exciting first volume in an epic fantasy-romance that will leave you breathless and yearning for more."
